A Golf Tip To Help With Your Follow - Through And Release

Paying close attention to your follow-through and your release can pay huge dividends when looking to improve your golf swing.

Although there isn?t anything that will influence the flight of the golf ball after it is impacted with the clubface, you still want to pay close attention to your follow-through. The well-executed follow-through can be more beneficial than you can imagine.

In your follow-through you?ll want to keep your eye on the details of your head, your right shoulder and your hands.

Looking for more accuracy in your golf shots? Pay particular attention to your hands. The higher they finish the farther they have traveled along the target line after impacting the golf ball.

If your hands finish below and past your left shoulder chances are you have producing a flat swing.

Your right shoulder should move down, dropping below the left shoulder during the initial stages of your follow-through. This promotes hitting the golf ball square with the clubface and will result in the full utilization of all your power.

Your head should remain in the original position of address until the completion of your follow-through pulls it away. This natural head turn should allow you to see the ball as it begin its ascent after impact with your peripheral vision. However, you should not be able to see the complete flight from this position.

In other words, the head stays still, only moving to response to movement of the hands and arms through the strike zone. There is no more fundamental golf tip than maintaining a still head while swinging a golf club.

And, if your release is well executed it will provide you with power and accuracy when swinging a golf club.

What?s the definition of a ?release??

It is a natural, free, accelerated swinging of the golf club through to the golf ball by the arms, wrists, and hands with appropriate timing on the downswing.

Pay attention to your left side of your hips (if you?re right-handed). It should not move past the ball and past your hands during your downswing.

It is common mistake, I think, to overdo the action the lower part of the body. This will result in a movement of the head and a loss of accuracy.

If you?ll be watchful of your left hip, coordinate its release with the arms and hands, it will allow for a full and smooth release. This should result in more consistency and better golf shots.
